We are happy to report that Tyax Lodge is NOT under an Evacuation ORDER. Tyax Lodge remains open, fully operational, and safe, including driving to the lodge. All guest amenities, dining, and lodge operations are running as usual. There is an Evacuation ALERT for our region, though there is no immediate threat to the lodge, therefore guests do not need to alter travel plans.

Why We Remain Confident & Secure

• Natural Protection: The fire is approximately 8-10 kilometres north of Tyax Lodge, separated from us by the Taylor Mountain Range, snow-covered ridgelines, moist valleys, and creeks.
• Favourable Winds: Prevailing winds continue to push the fire away from the lodge.
• Aggressive Suppression: BC Wildfire Service is actively fighting the fire with ground personnel, helicopters, heavy equipment, and airtankers. Fire activity remains moderate and contained behind natural boundaries.
• The Forecast: There is rain in the forecast.

Proactive Measures at Tyax Lodge

Out of an abundance of caution, our team is operating with heightened readiness:

• Power Security: Should regional power fluctuate, the main lodge, staff accommodation, Spirit Bear Chalet, and Wolverine Chalet are all backed up by automatic generators.
• Evacuation Plan & Logistics: We have detailed contingency and transportation arrangements ready. Tyax Lodge is serviced by four access routes (Road 40 to Lillooet, Hurley River Road, Highline via Seton Portage, and Marshall Lake Road).
• 24/7 Monitoring: Management is in direct, constant contact with the SLRD and BC Wildfire authorities to track weather and road conditions.
